POSTER SESSION
INSAP III -The Inspiration of Astronomical Phenomena
Palermo, December 31, 2000 - January 6, 2001
THE GENERATING-CONSTELLATION:
THE GREAT BEAR, CASSIOPEIA AND THE BUTTERFLY.
In the Sas
Concas eneolithic hypogeum (Oniferi, Nuoro), a necropolis with
artificial grottoes (domus de janas) the ancient Sardinians engraved
a cosmic representation placing four cupmarks on the left wall
and the rudder on the right wall (Fig. 1); this sketch
represents the Great Bear constellation as it appeared at the
2.700 B.C. winter's solstice midnight (software Guide 7.0 -
Fig.2).
Fig. 2
The dead
and the birth (Fig. 3) the butterfly (Fig. 4), a
shaman (?), the Gemini (?) and Cassiopeia constellations are represented
also (Fig. 5). The cosmogony is strengthened outside this
artificial grotto, with some cupmarks representing the Great Bear,
the Cassiopeia and the Draco constellations (Fig. 6).
Similar elements are in the Northern Italy (Valcamonica, Foppe
di Nadro, Rock n. 27, V° Millenium B.C. - E. Anati, Fig. 7)
in the bottom of a pottery recovered near Statenice - Boemia (5.000
B.C. M. Gimbutas, Fig. 8) and in the Southern Italy
also (Passo di Corvo, Foggia) in a statuette with a double
symbology characterized by a butterfly and the Cassiopeia constellation
(5.500 B.C. - M. Gimbutas, Fig. 9).
